Description
This semi-programmatic work about medieval Great Britain – of which Albion is the earliest known name – was originally composed for brass band. Due to its great success, Jan Van der Roost created a fanfare instrumentation twenty years after its initial release. King Arthur, his knights, the turmoil of battle in times gone by... all of these elements occur along with bouts of musical lyricism. After all, King Arthur was also known for bringing peace and stability. All in all, Albion provides a wide expanse of musical variation and makes for a beautiful addition to the fanfare repertoire.
